Do we really need electricity while camping?Whether you like to escape to the desert for a safari, stay there overnight with friends, stealth camping in an urban area or even run a resort in a remote area, you need access to electricity which has become a basic necessity for life. You may need it for simple things like charging your phone, keeping the electric ice box running, emergency lights or even a small heating solution. Our life is surrounded by gadgets that need electricity to function. So what can we do if there is no electricity while camping?
What can we do if no electricity available at camping site?
Well, there really are only a handful reliable means and those are batteries and solar panels. Batteries and solar panels both used to be quite bulky and if you wanted to use your normal appliance or a phone charger then you needed an additional bulky power inverter/mppt charger to even use power from the batteries. Nowadays one can easily find portable batteries with integrated inverters/chargers and a large assortment of outlets including AC Plugs, Direct USB charging ports, Wireless chargers and even DC ports. How do the Portable Power Stations work?
Take for example our 600 Watt, 256 Wh PPS, you could charge the PPS using a normal AC Socket before going on the trip. When you go on your trip all you have to do is plug in your appliance into the AC outlet and start using it. A typical phone has around 3000-5000 mAh batteries and usually it is lithium (3.8V) therefore a single phone with a big battery requires around 5Ah x 3.8 = 19 Wh. Therefore you could use this PPS to recharge your phone almost 10 times or recharge 5-6 phones without breaking a sweat.
